The Amazing Spider-Man #208 - Fusion!

" FUSION! "

Continued from last issue.... Spider-Man has just been senselessly beaten by the Kingpin, who has left Spider-Man to his fate, having given up his life of crime for his wife Vanessa. The police find Spider-Man and bring him to a hospital, where a doctor treats him and makes sure that nobody unmasks the wall-crawler. 

While at the Restwell Retirement home, Dr. Reinhardt revels himself as the original Mysterio, and reveals to the Burglar that he faked his own death to operate in more subtle fraudulent ways, and that the his role as administrator of Restwell allowed him to swindle the elderly that he cared for out of their valuables. Hoping to get this treasure the Burglar has been trying to find, Mystery turns his illusion casting powers on the man, knocking him out and tying him up in the boiler room of the retirement home. 

While back at the hospital, Spider-Man revives and leaves in spite of the doctors orders to stay and get more treatment for his now-broken arm he speeds off for the Restwell Retirement Home, and soon finds himself victim to Mysterio's illusions which now appear more elaborate than ever. While at the Daily Bugle, J. Jonah Jameson has become even more irrational. When Marla Madison tries to talk sense into Jonah. Jameson then enters the board room where an investors meeting is happening. When the other shareholders of the Bugle question Jameson's recent decisions as editor, Jameson loses his temper and his fury causes a total nervous breakdown and he faints to the floor. 

Back at the Restwell Retirement Home, Spider-Man finally tackles Mysterio one-on-one, however he finds that his foe's new hypnosis based illusions and is easily knocked out by his long time foe. Reviving, Spider-Man has found that Mysterio has chained him to the bottom of the facilities wading pool. Mysterio then begins to fill the pool with water, gloating over how his old nemesis will helplessly drown.

Ultimate Spider-Man #4 - With Great Power

" WITH GREAT POWER "

There is destruction. Dead doctors, scientists, and Harry Osborn (still alive) lie in the rubble and mess that was Osborn Industries. The entire laboratory was demolished. Norman Osborn is no where to be seen. Meanwhile, Peter Parker, in his new Spider-man outfit, is again using his new-found powers to get money in the wrestling industry. After winning yet another wrestling fight, Spider-man goes to the main office to get his earn, but the money has been stolen. Since Spider-Man is the only wrestler with a secret identity, everyone blames him. Spider-man escapes before things turn nasty. 

Swinging away, and undressing, now as Peter Parker, walking down a street, Peter notices a robbery. The robber races down the street, past Peter. The shop owners run over to Peter, as the robber gets away. The owners tell Peter he could have easily stopped the robber. Peter says he has his own worries. Getting home, Peter is approached by his aunt and uncle, who have a letter from Peter's school saying that he is failing his subjects. May and Ben talk to Peter about how Peter always wanted high grades, and now he doesn't care about anything anymore. Peter tells them off, and runs away. 

Peter jumps over rooftops, thinking about how he wishes he could tell everyone of his abilities. Peter thinks of somewhere he can go, and he goes to Kong's house. Later, there is a party at Kong's place, and everyone is there. Peter is still there also, getting flirted with by Liz Allen, who was drinking that night. Mary Jane comes in the room, and thinks Peter is with Liz, and runs off. Peter runs after her to explain, but Uncle Ben is at the front door, and grabs Peter. Ben talks to Peter about what he was thinking, Peter doesn't know. Ben tells Peter that his father wanted Peter to become something in his future. That Peter could help people in his future. And that great things will happen in his future. And with those great things will also come great responsibility. Peter then asks Ben where his father is, and runs off. Later, a monstrous beast is in an alley way, looking for cloths. Peter is on a rooftop thinking; he needs to tell May and Ben what is going on with him. He jumps off the roof, heading home. As he walks home, he notices many police cars at his house.

The Amazing Spider-Man #207 - Mesmero's Revenge!

" MESMERO'S REVENGE "

Mesmero offers Spider-Man four hundred dollars a week if he will agree to make special appearances in his Broadway show. Unfortunately, the drama critic for the Globe hates Mesmero's performance and pans him in the newspaper. Mesmero hypnotizes the unkind reviewer and compels him to wrap himself in chains and jump off the Brooklyn Bridge. Spidey intervenes, which Mesmero sees as tantamount to betrayal. When Spidey shows up for his curtain call, Mesmero tries to kill him in front of a captive audience.

Ultimate Spider-Man #2 - Growing Pains

" GROWING PLACE "

Peter Parker is back in school. Wondering what the hell is happening to him, he realises that he suddenly has bigger muscles, and some enhanced athletic ability. In gym class, he throws a basketball into the face of Flash Thompson when Peter sees him hitting on Mary Jane.

Outside, Flash doesn’t take too kindly to this and starts a fight with Peter. Parker dodges each blow with ease until he eventually catches Flash’s punch and breaks his hand. Threatening to sue unless the Parkers pay the hospital bill, May and Ben come down hard on Peter, who sneaks out of the house that night to an abandoned warehouse.

He soon realises his strength has grown beyond his wildest dreams, and he can easily support the weight of a car. He finds his acrobatic ability has improved too, and he can easily jump the height of a small building.

Norman Osborn, after hearing of Peter’s fight with Flash, tells his son Harry to invite Peter back to the lab, so he can once again apologise for the spider incident. Distracting Peter with other subjects in the OZ project, scientists distract him while another takes a blood sample. Furious, Peter storms out and disappears.

After some analysis, it turns out Peter isn’t dying after all, and that the effects of the spider’s bite have altered his metabolism to that of an Olympic athlete. Norman Osborn decides the time has come to test the OZ project on a human.

Ultimate Spider-Man #1 "Powerless"

At Osborn Industries, Norman Osborn is hard at work with his genetic technicians. They are using various subjects, such as spiders, on the OZ project. As Norman has to talk with his lawyer over the phone urgently, his assistant fails to cap the container on the spider case, and the arachnid escapes. Elsewhere, in Queens, Peter Parker reads a chemistry book in a mall food court. As he tries to study, some rowdy teenagers pester him by throwing food. A sympathetic red-head (Mary Jane Watson) looks on with sadness. Before the other teens can stir up more trouble, Peter's uncle, Ben Parker, shows up and wrangles Mary Jane into a conversation with Peter and him.

SPIDERMAN DEL 1 AL 700 (# 73, 74, 75) "EL SECRETO DE LA TABLETA PETRIFICADA"

¡ LA RED SE CIERRA !

Spider-Man has come to the Stacy home to ask George Stacy if he can provide any clues about where the Shocker may have taken the tablet stolen from his home. After overhearing Gwen talking about Peter to her father, Spider-Man makes his presence known to Stacy, after some consideration George gives Spider-Man the only lead he can think of: The address of the Shocker's ex-girlfriend. Spider-Man arrives at the girls house to find that it's being torn apart by Man-Mountain Marko, an enforcer for the crime boss Silvermane. As the two duke it out, another one of Silvermane's goons, Cesare Cicero bails out one of Kingpin's men to decipher the tablet. Back at the Shocker's ex-girlfriends place, Man-Mountain Marko is put on the ropes by Spider-Man. While at the Bugle, Jameson returns to work to tell Joe Robertson about the positive press his newspaper has been giving Spider-Man. Robertson tells Jameson that Jameson is entitled to write all the editorials he wants, but as long as he's city editor for the paper, he will report the facts as they are. The fight between Marko and Spider-Man ends when Marko throws the Shocker's ex out the window, forcing Spider-Man to save her life while Marko makes off with the tablet. As Silvermane has the Kingpin's man translate the tablet, Spider-Man returns home and changes to Peter Parker where he remembers he was going to call Curt Connors at home. He learns from his wife that Connors was taken from their home a few days prior by a bunch of unknown men. Little does Peter know that Connors has been brought in by Silvermane to assist with the tablet in some way. Connors warns Silvermane that he should not be kept prisoner because it's dangerous, but refuses to elaborate.

Silvermane has demanded that Curt Connors assist in deciphering the tablet that he has stolen. Connors is locked in the room with the Kingpin's henchman Wilson. The stress of the whole episode causes Curt to begin to change into the Lizard, a transformation he can suppress with great difficulty. 

When Silvermane's mouthpiece Caesar Cicero kidnaps the Connors family, Spider-Man tracks him down and fights off his Maggia thugs. However Cicero manages to escape and when he sets off a bomb in his hideout, he (incorrectly) believes Spider-Man to be dead. Resuming his identity of Peter Parker because he has to attend class, Peter is distant to everyone who tries to talk to him.

Meanwhile, Connors and Wilson have cracked the secret of the tablet, and provided what Silvermane seeks: A potion which will reverse the aging process and make him a young man once more. When Silvermane ingests the potion he passes out. When Marko believes that Connors really poisoned Silvermane, he is about to pummel the scientist when suddenly Silvermane rises announcing that the potion worked. Marko looks over his shoulder and sees that Silvermane has been reduced in age to a man in his prime.

Continued from last issue... 

Having drank the elixir of life, Silvermane has reverse his age to that of a man in his prime. And when Ceasar tries to convince Marko that the young man is not Silvermane, but an impostor, Silvermane lashes out at them. Suddenly Spider-Man arrives having beat the information of Silvermane's base out of some of his Maggia goons. 

Spider-Man makes short work of Marko, but has to fight Silvermane who has de-aged once more to a man in his twenties. Connors, who has been fighting a transformation back into the Lizard, flees but finally cannot hold back the transformation any longer and changes back into the monster he loathes. The Lizard then makes a break for it and escapes he Maggia hideout. 

As Spider-Man fights both the revitalized Silvermane, and his Maggia troops, Silvermane is shocked to find that he's still getting younger by the minute and flees the room. Spider-Man finishes off the rest of the Maggia grunts and then goes after Silvermane, and watches as the once fearsome crime boss de-ages past infancy until he finally becomes nothing but a memory. 

Spider-Man frees the Connors family and vows to them that he will find Curt, and that if he has become the Lizard again, cure him. While elsewhere, the Lizard takes full control of Connor's body again, this time vowing to fight to remain the Lizard, forever.

Donde se Arrastra el Lagarto!

En la estación de tren, la tía May se va mientras que el Dr. Curt Connors está junto a su esposa e hijo. El doctor reacciona al antídoto de Rhino en el que estaba trabajando y se convierte en Lizard. Al darse cuenta de esto huye, aunque es descubierto por su hijo Billy. Lizard vence a su lado humano y su intención de derrotar a Spider-Man. Mientras la tía May se va, Peter ve a la señora Connors llorando y se presenta como Spider-Man. La Sra. Connors explica su temor de que su marido se haya transformado y vaya a por él en el túnel. Al no encontrar nada, se los lleva de vuelta a su laboratorio. 

Pedro se dirige al Daily Bugle para recoger más dinero y Frederick Foswell decide esconder a Peter como su alter-ego Patch para ver si hay una historia. Pete se encuentra con Harry Osborn, Flash Thompson, y Gwen Stacy en un café local. Al hablar sobre el proyecto de Flash, Mary Jane entra y los chicos se sorprenden. Todavía se sorprenden más cuando Peter le conoce y Gwen tiene celos al salir juntos. The Lizard luego se enfrenta a Spider-Man. Jameson mancilla el nombre de Spider-Man como un criminal, pero él encuentra a Lizard y escala un edificio frente al público, mostrando que Lizard también puede subirlo. 

Mientras Spider-Man lucha contra Lizard, se tuerce un brazo y termina cayendo en una telaraña, aunque un doctor cercano le ayuda a curarle antes de que llegue la policía. Spider-Man se encuentra a la señora Connors y le hace saber que el Dr. Connors se ha convertido en The Lizard, pero vuelve a casa para recuperarse. Mary Jane llama e invita a Peter a un baile, pero se niega por temor a que alguien pueda deducir que tanto él como Spider-man tiene el brazo torcido y son la misma persona.

RHINO DISTURBIO!

El tranquilizante de Rhino desaparece y él intenta escapar de la cárcel buscando a Spider-Man. En el Daily Bugle, Ned Leeds y Betty Brant anuncian su compromiso, pero la escena cambia a Peter Parker estando enamorado de Mary Jane en casa. Un boletín informativo de la televisión anuncia la fuga de Rhino.

Peter se da cuenta de que Spider-Man debe enfrentarse a él y Mary Jane sugiere que vayan al centro para ver la acción. Mientras Rhino irrumpe buscándole, él tiene un recuerdo de cómo empezó todo. Elegido por su fuerza y poca inteligencia, dos científicos que trabajan para los espías profesionales aplican un traje de rinoceronte especial que se une con su piel. Después de la aplicación, misteriosamente ganó inteligencia y se vuelve sobre sus creadores, haciendo lo que él quiere.  

Cuando Peter y Mary Jane llegan a la ciudad, Peter se escapa para convertirse en Spider-Man y se enfrenta a The Rhino. A medida que luchan, el Rhino lo lleva a donde hay personas inocentes y policía mirándoles. Él choca contra Spider-man y le deja aturdido para poder acabar con él. No obstante, un oficial de policía lo coge en el último momento y le salva. 

El Rhino cree que Spider-Man está muerto y va a por John Jameson. Mientras que saca provecho de sus fotos de la batalla, Peter se entera de que Jameson va a ser trasladado a otro hospital y piensa que el Rhino puede atacar de nuevo. Después de haber recogido un poco de piel del rinoceronte de la lucha anterior, Spider-Man se la lleva al Dr. Curt Connors para su análisis. Spider-Man se encuentra con el Rhino en el hospital y le golpea con correas reformuladas que queman la piel del rinoceronte, pudiendo capturarle. Peter vuelve a casa y se entera de que Flash Thompson se prepara para la guerra y que la tía May está enferma, ya que no había tomado su medicación por los altos costes de la misma.

Al principio parece que Spider-Man ha robado un banco y deja caer la bolsa y su contenido en el río cerca del puente de Queensboro. A continuación, en el edificio del Daily Bugle Frederick Foswell viene corriendo en busca de J. Jonah Jameson para decirle que Spider-Man ha robado un banco. Betty Brant está en el Bugle y habla con Ned Leeds. Luego Jameson está en el aeropuerto Kennedy con su hijo John.

Los Cuernos del Rhino!

Peter Parker se ha comprado una nueva moto y llama a J. Jonah Jameson para una referencia de crédito, aprobándola al saber que conseguirá fotos más baratas. John Jameson se encuentra de visita y aunque Jonah va por la tangente sobre Spider-Man, John expresa su agradecimiento por Spider-Man desde que lo salvó de la cápsula espacial fuera de control. John le dice a su padre que ha sido aceptado recientemente por la NASA. Después de su último paseo espacial, la NASA cree que puede ayudar a los EE.UU. en la carrera espacial. Además, le han asignado guardaespaldas para evitar el secuestro de los países competidores. 

Un hombre gigante con un traje de rinoceronte aparece en la frontera de México con balas rebotando, golpeando fuertemente a cualquier cosa que pase por su camino. Mientras tanto, Pete se encuentra con Betty Brant que acaba de regresar. Mientras hablan, se insinúan ciertas palabras y se dan cuenta de que los sentimientos del uno por el otro se han esfumado. Pete se excusa y ve de lejos a Rhino. Más tarde, Rhino alcanza Nueva York y después de enterarse de esto, Spider-Man va a buscarlo. Llega a la habitación del hotel de John Jameson, encontrándose a éste secuestrado por Rhino. 

Spider-Man se enfrenta a Rhino y se entera de que ha sido contratado para secuestrar a John. Spider-Man empieza a pelear con él, pero se da cuenta que no puede luchar de frente y que podría matarle. Entonces se mueve y lo rodea, golpeándole en la cabeza y dejándolo inconsciente para que la policía le arreste. Al día siguiente, Pete va a la escuela en su moto. Gwen se da cuenta de su nueva adquisición y se lo comenta. Mientras él le dice que ella tiene mucho que aprender sobre él, ambos vuelven a notar lo mismo que al principio. Pete llega a casa y se le recuerda que se reunirá con la sobrina de Anna Watson, Mary Jane.

 Cuando Cae el Meteoro!

 

Norton G. Fester es un científico que quiere demostrar que los meteoros tienen vida microscópica en su interior. Un día ve caer un meteoro y va a investigarlo. Convencido de que todos iban a admirarle y que se convertiría en un personaje famoso, va a un banco para que le presten dinero. Los banqueros le toman por un loco y le ignoran. Decidido a demostrarlo, decide investigar el solo el meteoro, con tan buena suerte (si queréis verlo de este modo) que de el meteoro sale una nube de gas que le dio una fuerza sobrehumana y una gran capacidad de salto. Mientras tanto Peter Parker (que se había perdido algunas clases por culpa de Kraven y Molten Man) tiene algunos problemas para hacer nuevos amigos. 

Fester, que no había perdido, el tiempo se diseñó un traje, y se llamo a si mismo el Saquedor porque aprovechaba sus nuevos poderes para robar el dinero de los bancos. Después de unos días Fester empezó a preocuparse por sus poderes así que decidió robar un meteorito que había en una exposición para aumentar sus poderes coincidiendo que por allí estaba Peter Parker que instantáneamente se puso su traje y ganó con facilidad al Saqueador, que avergonzado, ideó otro plan más elaborado para conseguir ese meteorito que llevó a cabo dos días después. Pero Spider-man tampoco había perdido el tiempo y descubrió los planes del Saqueador y, en una encarnizada batalla aérea, Spider-man puso fin a la carrera de delincuente del Saqueador.
