Green Lantern: Emerald Dawn #4 - The Corps

" THE CORPS "

In the wake of the nuclear explosion that he caused Green Lantern is surprised to find that he is still alive. He assumes that his enemy Legion must have been vaporized. Realizing his own inexperience, Hal asks his ring to take him to meet another member of the Green Lantern Corps. As he flies past the moon it appears that Legion has survived, and the villain begins following him.

The ring takes Hal to Sector 2813, where he encounters Green Lantern Tomar-Re. Tomar's ring informs him that Legion has been sighted, and together, they warp to Oa. There, Tomar explains the nature of the Guardians, and their struggle to keep order in the cosmos. They meet Salakk who declares that the three must consult the Book of Oa, regarding Legion's origins. The Book tells the story of the planet Tchk-Tchk in Sector 407, where over-population and conquest led the Guardians to lock the planet within in energy field until their desire to expand was quelled.

Tomar-Re explains that Hal will have to stay on Oa to train, rather than returning to Earth with his new-found powers. Hal, however, makes a request to appear at his friend Andy's funeral via green energy-construct, where he reveals to his brother Jack what has happened to him. Hal's ex-girlfriend Carol Ferris nearly sees him, but he disappears immediately.

For the next week on Oa, Hal is rigorously trained by Kilowog, until one morning he wakes to hear an alarm. Tomar-Re explains that the alarm hasn't sounded in a millennium. Oa has been breached by Legion.

Green Lantern: Emerald Dawn #3 - The Ring

" THE RING "

While Green Lantern is fighting with a yellow alien, he wonders why his ring seems to have no effect. As the powerful alien becomes more aggressive, Hal's concentration breaks, and his connection to the ring's energy is broken. Enraged, the alien leaves, wondering what happened to the Green Lantern's trail.

Hal is confused and depressed, and in an effort to get back to what he knows, he hitchhikes to the hospital where his recently paralyzed friend Andy is resting. However, when he arrives, the car is stopped by a police blockade. The police inform Hal that the hospital has been destroyed by the yellow alien, with no apparent survivors. When Hal realizes that the hospital's destruction is his own fault, he realizes that Ferris Aircraft is also in danger.

Unfortunately, Ferris Aircraft has also been destroyed, and knowing that the yellow alien is searching for the Green Lantern, that is what Hal resolves to be. He returns to the crash site of Abin Sur's spacecraft, hoping to find the power battery for his ring. When he discovers a large green lantern, and holds the ring to it, he is pulled toward it by a powerful force, and finds himself back in his Green Lantern uniform.

Hal, confounded, asks the ring what it's doing to him and is surprised to receive a response. The ring explains that he must charge it using the battery every 24 hours. Hal asks about the yellow alien's origins, and the ring reveals that the alien is known as Legion, and has killed four Green Lanterns including Abin Sur. The ring creates a projection of the events leading to Abin Sur's death, but as soon as it ends, the real Legion appears and attacks.

Realizing that the ring has no effect against a the yellow alien, and knowing that he is in a secluded area, Hal decides to use the ship's fission reactors to cause a nuclear blast, in an attempt to defeat Legion.

Green Lantern: Emerald Dawn #2 - The Trail

" THE TRAIL "

The story opens with Hal Jordan taking a plane higher than anyone has before - it is a test of will. But then everything goes wrong - he starts hearing his dead father talking to him. The plane spirals earthward out of control. It ends in a collision with a giant green lantern.

Hal Jordan wakes up. He's lying face down in the dirt near a highway billboard that he just flew into head first, knocking himself cold. Hal catches a ride with a passing motorist into town where he visits his friend in the hospital.There he learns that he's wanted by the police. After some soul-searching he decides to turn himself in. He's booked on a DWI charge and thrown in jail. All his personal effects are confiscated - including his power ring!

So when a dangerous enemy comes looking for him, he's a sitting duck...

HOME ALONE

Home Alone (titulada Solo en casa en España y Mi pobre angelito en Hispanoamérica) es una película estadounidense de 1990, dirigida por Chris Columbus. Protagonizada por Macaulay Culkin, Joe Pesci, Daniel Stern, Catherine O'Hara, Roberts Blossom, John Heard y John Candy en los papeles principales.

Kevin McCallister (Macaulay Culkin), es un niño de ocho años que vive junto a su familia en Chicago. La película comienza con una cena familiar en la víspera de un viaje que se pensaba realizar para celebrar la Navidad en París. Mientras la familia estaba enfocada en los preparativos del viaje y de la cena, sus movimientos son monitoreados por el delincuente Harry (Joe Pesci), quien había logrado entrar a la casa con un disfraz de policía. Durante la cena, Kevin debe soportar las burlas de su hermano mayor Buzz, el maltrato de su aborrecible tío Frank, y un castigo de parte de su madre Kate al causar un desastre en la cena. Estas situaciones son motivos suficientes para que Kevin estalle deseando vivir solo y sea arrumbado a un rincón de la casa donde está fuera de contacto con la familia. Su deseo finalmente se cumple la mañana siguiente, cuando comienzan los preparativos para el viaje. Sin darse cuenta, Kevin es olvidado por error en su casa en el apuro que generó en su familia el hecho de levantarse tarde e ir a tomar el avión rumbo a París rápidamente. La familia McCallister sólo se da cuenta de su ausencia cuando ya están volando rumbo a París y, al llegar, se enteran que es imposible tomar un avión de regreso a Chicago, y que retornar al hogar tomará algunos días. Logran comunicarse con la policía de Chicago que inspecciona la casa y no encuentra a Kevin, pero su madre Kate (Catherine O'Hara) decide no esperar y regresar por cualquier forma lo más pronto posible, logrando conseguir un vuelo que la dejará en Pensilvania, desde donde viajará por tierra a Chicago junto a una banda de polka dirigida por Gus Polinski (John Candy), un buen samaritano. Aunque inicialmente Kevin disfruta de su tiempo a solas, es asediado posteriormente por Harry y su socio Marv (Daniel Stern), que descubren que está solo a pesar de los intentos de Kevin que les hicieron creer lo contrario al principio, han robado muchas casas y planean desvalijar la residencia de los McCallister en plena noche buena, creyéndola que era un blanco muy fácil con un niño de ocho años y toda su familia ausente. Sin embargo, el dúo no espera las numerosas trampas establecidas por toda la casa por el ingenioso Kevin para defender su hogar. El dúo termina acabado siendo nuevamente capturado por la policía. Finalmente Kate logra llegar a su hogar y se encuentra con Kevin. Y después su familia Peter (John Heard), Buzz (Devin Ratray), Megan (Hillary Wolf), Linnie (Angela Goethals) y Jeff (Michael C. Maronna) toman el vuelo que ella no quiso tomar y se encuentran en casa para el Día de Navidad...
