1963 #4 - Showdown in the Shimmering Zone! / Flipsville!

https://mega.co.nz/#!i8E3HQCT!YdMZ1qOOfnSGUvdKsnS3s595_b6OKquQstb0u-aIVhE

" SHOWDOWN IN THE SHIMMERING ZONE! / FLIPSVILLE! "

This comic book is Issue #4 of the series "1963", and features two stories.  The first one involves the character "N-Man", analogous to Frankenstein's creature and The Thing but with Reed Richards' intellect, who is sent to investigate what may be an expanding dimensional rift, or type of "dimensional sinkhole" dubbed the Shimmering Zone.  N-Man soon encounters a fellow mutated scientist, although he willingly had his body mutated, dubbed "Comrade Cockroach", a Russian scientist as N-Man tries to determine the exact cause and nature of this apparent rift.  Given his immunity to radiation and other energies, N-Man was chosen for the mission but Comrade Cockroach is determined to stop him, so the Soviets can lay claim to it first before the United States.

The second story involves yet another type of rift in time involving "Johnny Beyond" a beatnick  living in 1963, as his flat becomes a type of ground zero for a time bubble and involves his future alternate reality counterpart from 1992,  as all involved try to determine what is happening.   It is soon revealed the 1963 Johnny Beyond has knowledge of some type of Tibetan magic and the character is slightly analogous to Dr. Strange.

There is a backup gallery of two drawings of  "1963" characters, one of N-Man.

V for Vendetta #3 Europe After the Reign Book 3

" V DE VENDETTA LIBRO 1: EUROPA TRAS EL REINADO PARTE 3 "

Capítulo 9: Violence (Violencia)
Capítulo 10: Venom (Veneno)
Capítulo 11: The Vortex (El vórtice)

December 23rd, 1997
The body of Bishop Lilliman is taken back to the Nose at New Scotland Yard. Eric Finch speaks with pathologist Doctor Delia Surridge concerning the manner in which Lilliman was killed. Eric shows her a Violet Carson that was left at the scene of the crime. They make arrangements to meet later.

At the Shadow Gallery, Evey is upset with her role in the death of Bishop Lilliman. While she knew that V planned on rescuing her and exposing Lilliman's scandalous affairs, she had no idea that her mysterious avenger intended on murdering him. She tells V that she will no longer be a party to murder.
In Knightsbridge, Fingerman Derek Almond gets into an argument with his wife, Rose. Rose states that his obsession with finding Codename V is ruining their marriage. Derek backhands her across the face, and retreats into the bedroom to clean his gun.

Back at the Nose, Eric Finch and Dominic Stone continue investigating the recent V attacks. Stone draws a connection between Codename V and a series of classified hormonal experiments that took place at the Larkhill Resettlement Camp between 1992 and 1993. Three of the camp's administrators included two of V's previous victims – Lewis Prothero and Anthony Lilliman. Another name on the register is Doctor Delia Surridge. Finch has Stone get a hold of Derek Almond and warns him that Surridge may be V's next victim.

That night in Plaistow, V enters Delia's bedroom. She awakens with a start, but despite the prominent Guy Fawkes mask, she knows immediately who it is standing before her. More than anyone, Surridge is responsible for creating the man that V has become. Unlike the others however, Delia is the only one to feel any sense of remorse over the part she played in this hideous drama. V injects her with a slow-acting poison and does her the courtesy of revealing his true face to her before she dies. A Violet Carson is left in her room.

Derek Almond arrives at Delia's flat just as V exits the front door. He tries to apprehend him, but V is faster and stronger than Almond. He pins him to the wall and promptly kills him.

December 24th, 1997
Eric Finch and Dominic Stone arrive in Plaistow, but V is long gone. Finch finds Surridge's diary sitting on a nightstand beside her bed. Over the course of several hours, he pours over the journal and reports his findings to Chancellor Adam Susan.

Inside the journal is a detailed account of Surridge's pathological studies from the time she spent at Larkhill. She goes into detail concerning the subject from Room #5, the only apparent survivor of the Batch 5 experiments. As hoped, the subject's strength and reflexes were greatly enhanced from the hormone treatments, though the procedure rendered him completely insane. The journal further reveals that on Christmas Eve in 1993, the man from Room #5, having acquired all of the chemicals needed to produce napalm and mustard gas, engineered an elaborate escape attempt from Larkhill. His body was hideously burned from the multiple explosions, but he was nonetheless free. The subject from Room #5 eventually became the terrorist, Codename V.

Finch is obsessed with Surridge's journal, but cannot understand why V left it for others to find. He cannot determine whether V's vendetta against his former tormentors is complete, or if there are still more travesties awaiting the people of London.

" V DE VENDETTA LIBRO 1: EUROPA TRAS EL REINADO PARTE 2 "

Capítulo 5: Versions (Versiones)
Capítulo 6: The Vision (La Visión)
Capítulo 7: Virtue Victorious (La Virtud Victoriosa)
Capítulo 8: The Valley (El Valle)

December 12th, 1997:
Norsefire leader Adam Susan retires to his private computer-monitoring chamber inside the Head. Speaking to himself at length, he professes his loneliness, as well as his dedication to the Norsefire cause. He confesses that his only true love is Fate – the Norsefire monitoring network.

Meanwhile, V scales the top of the Old Bailey building and carries on a conversation with the statue of Madam Justice. He treats the statue as if it were an old lover, and he – the jilted cuckold. He accuses the statue of betraying him, as well as the concepts of liberty and freedom. Concluding their metaphorical affair, V leaves a parting gift – a heart-shaped box. Moments later, the dome of the Old Bailey explodes.

At the Finger, Erich Finch and his assistant, Dominic Stone attempt to question Lewis Prothero. Prothero is still insensate from his recent encounter with V, and can do little but mutter the number "Five", over and over again.

December 15th, 1997:
At the Shadow Gallery, Evey asks V about a quote inscribed upon an archway. Evey grows more comfortable with V, and asks if she can continue to stay at the Gallery. V senses that Evey is a kindred spirit. He tells her that he may have need for her that evening.

December 20th, 1997:
At Westminster Abbey, Bishop Anthony Lilliman conducts Sunday mass. All of the prominent members of the Norsefire party are present. After services conclude, Derek and Rosemary Almond have a conversation with Conrad Heyer and his wife, Helen.

That evening, Bishop Lilliman retires to his quarters. He asks his valet, Dennis, to bring him a young lady. Despite his religious background, the Bishop indulges in sexual perversions with young women practically every evening. He is almost disappointed to discover that his latest conquest is fifteen-years-old. He prefers them younger. This night however, the Bishop's visitor is actually Evey Hammond. Evey bides her time, and lures the Bishop into his private bedchamber. V raids the Abbey and attacks Bishop Lilliman. He forces him consume a communion wafer dosed with cyanide.

At the Ear, two of the agents turn on a monitor that feeds into the Bishop’s room. They are shocked to hear that the terrorist, V, has interrupted "Children's Hour". They contact the Finger, and before long, Eric Finch and Derek Almond arrive at the abbey. Finch finds a white carnation on the bedroom floor.

December 21st, 1997:
Finch and Derek Almond review the evidence as recovered by the Ear's monitor tapes. The voices on the tapes are strained, but it is obvious that one voice belongs to V, and the other belongs to Lilliman. Music from Beethoven's Symphony No. 5 drowns out most of the dialogue on the tape. Almond points out that the opening to Beethoven's 5th movement is also Morse code for the letter "V".

V for Vendetta #1 "Europe After the Reign Book 1"

https://mega.co.nz/#!vttU2BbQ!ovOm5JPaMhiO9zMsxngTU5qbqS8P14ehg_KtSvRub6U

" V DE VENDETTA LIBRO 1: EUROPA TRAS EL REINADO"

Capítulo 1: The Villain (El Villano)
Capítulo 2: The Voice (La Voz)
Capítulo 3: Victims (Víctimas)
Capítulo 4: Vaudeville(Vaudeville)

It is the year 1997. In this post-nuclear reality, Great Britain has emerged as a controlled Fascist state. The monarchy has been supplanted by a leadership regime known as Norsefire.

November 5th, 1997
A sixteen-year-old prostitute named Evey Hammond walks the streets of London eager for work. She approaches two men and propositions them, only to discover that they are Fingermen – high-ranking police officers that patrol the streets undercover. They grab Evey and press her against a brick wall, spitefully describing what they will do with her. Suddenly, a cloaked, masked avenger emerges from the shadows. Known only as V, he appears donned in a cape and a Guy Fawkes mask while quoting from Macbeth. V distracts the Fingermen with a concealed smoke-generator and kills one of them with an explosive artificial hand.

Having rescued Evey, he takes her to a London rooftop, where she witnesses his next unbeleavable feat. V bombs the Palace of Westminster, and enhances the dramatic flair of the event with a fancy fireworks display. The fireworks overtop London form the shape of the letter "V".

Norsefire leader Adam Susan responds to the terrorist plot. He consults with all of his department heads including Roger Dascombe, Eric Finch, Conrad Heyer, Derek Almond and Lewis Prothero. Prothero is a media orator who goes by the name "The Voice of Fate". Broadcasting his voice throughout the entire city, he alerts the citizens of London, that the destruction of the abandoned Westminister Palace was part of a scheduled demolition.

Susan sends Derek Almond to Jordan Tower to consult with Roger Dascombe. Dascombe is a technician who works for a Norsefire civil service branch known as the Mouth. The Mouth is Norsefire's propaganda machine, and Derek wants to make sure that the Voice of Fate can quickly quell any rumors of a terrorist attack.

Meanwhile, V takes Evey Hammond to his lair – a pop culture museum known as the Shadow Gallery. The Shadow Gallery is filled with books, music and movie posters that are now considered contraband by the auspices of the current ruling party. V leaves Evey at the Gallery and stalks off into the night.

He attacks a subway car carrying Lewis Prothero and several Fingermen. He incapacitates the driver, kills the Fingermen and kidnaps Prothero.

November 6th, 1997
Nose investigator Eric Finch and his junior assistant Dominic Stone investigate the Prothero kidnapping. Finch finds a Violet Carson at the scene of the crime – a calling card that he hopes will point him in the direction of the kidnapper.

V meanwhile, brings Prothero to a special section of the Shadow Gallery. He finds an immense cavern that has been converted to resemble a place known as the Larkhill Resettlement Camp. It is learned that Prothero was once an officer serving at the Larkhill Resettlement Camp in 1993. The Larkhill Camp was a concentration camp for Negroes, homosexuals and political dissidents. It is revealed that V was once a prisoner at Larkhill in Room #5. V terrorizes him throughout the evening and ultimately drives Prothero insane. He drops him off at Scotland Yard and leaves him for the Fingermen to find.

This is the first part of the imaginary story detailing the final fate of the pre-Crisis modern-day Superman. It is generally told as a flashback in the year 1997 by Lois Lane Elliot, who is retired from the Daily Planet and now a happy homemaker. The first part of the story goes as follows:

One day in 1987, Superman returned from space to find Metropolis had suffered major damage, which Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen said came from Bizarro. Superman enters a wrecked department store and confronts Bizarro, demanding an explanation for all the death and destruction. Bizarro explains his reasons to Superman: he had recently realized that all these years, he has not been a "perfect imperfect duplicate", and so he took the necessary steps to fix that. Realizing that Superman came from an alien world that was destroyed by a natural accident, Bizarro destroyed Bizarro World then attempted to destroy his own birth world starting with Metropolis. Then, realizing that Superman never kills anyone (even bad people), Bizarro went on a killing spree through the city, murdering several innocent men, women, and children. Finally, Bizarro states that since Superman must live, then he himself must die. He holds up a chunk of Blue Kryptonite and presses it against his chest, fatally exposing himself to its poisonous radiation. Bizarro bids a final cryptic farewell to his longtime rival, then quietly passes away from Kryptonite poisoning, leaving Superman, shocked, confused, and saddened over what has just happened.

Following this bizarre incident, Clark Kent gets ready to join his co-anchor Lana Lang in the WGBS news room when he receives two packages. The first smaller package is a group of Superman action figures that come to life, firing deadly heat-vision beams. The production crew watch as Clark Kent is attacked by the action figures' heat vision, figuring that he would never survive, when they saw that they exposed his Superman identity to them. The action figures now also speak in the voices of the Toyman and the Prankster, the two villains behind this attack. They have Superman open up the second package, which contains the dead body of Pete Ross, whom the two criminals have extracted information about Superman from. Superman finds out where the two criminals are hiding and bring them to justice, but as his civilian identity is now compromised, he fears that as the villains who were nuisances to him were becoming killers, he can only wonder what will become of those who are killers.

Speaking of which, Lex Luthor was up around the North Pole area where he finds the inert head of Brainiac in his robotic skeletal form when parts of his head started attaching themselves to Luthor's head, taking control of him. Brainiac now reveals that he is taking control of Luthor's body as part of a new form of partnership between the two, and that now he is seeking revenge against Superman for what he had done to him. Brainiac now guides Luthor's body back to civilization where he is to build a new ship for the robot.

Back in Metropolis, a group of men gather around outside the Daily Planet building on a hot day when they start shooting harpoons from their chest, revealing themselves to be humans converted into Metallos. They assault the staff of the Daily Planet and cause Lois Lane to fall from a window when Superman appears to rescue her and to magnetize the Daily Planet globe to capture all the Metallos inside the building. When that was done, Superman transported Lois, Jimmy, Lana, Perry White, and his wife to his Fortress of Solitude where they would be safe. As they were escaping the city, the merged Brainiac/Luthor shows up in a smaller version of Brainiac's skull ship to pick up Kryptonite Man as he appears calling out for Superman to challenge him.

That night, as Perry and his wife sleep in separate rooms, and Lana and Lois hold each other while crying themselves to sleep, Superman is joined by his dog Krypto as the Legion of Super-Heroes' time bubble appears, bringing with the group a young version of Supergirl who has yet to know that she has died during the Crisis On Infinite Earths. Brainiac 5 presents Superman with a special memorial trophy, seemingly as if they were never going to see him alive again after this. Following their departure, Superman is seen burying his face in his hand, crying.

To be continued in Action Comics #583.

" SUPERMAN: QUE LE PASO AL HOMBRE DEL MAÑANA? Parte 2 "

This is the second part of the imaginary story detailing the final fate of the pre-Crisis modern-day Superman. It is generally told as a flashback in the year 1997 by Lois Lane Elliot, who is retired from the Daily Planet and now a happy homemaker. Prior to the second part being told, Lois Lane Elliot introduces her husband Jordan to the Daily Planet reporter doing the interview with her. The second part of the story goes as follows:

As Superman is seen melting down the giant key that opens up the Fortress of Solitude, Brainiac/Luthor shows up somewhere near the fortress when they are joined by the Legion of Super-Villains, offering their help to defeat and destroy Superman. To that end, Brainiac/Luthor erects a force field that prevents any other superheroes from the outside to help Superman. Also, the Kryptonite Man's deadly radiation keeps Superman and his dog Krypto at bay from attacking them.

Seeing that Superman needs help, Jimmy Olsen and Lana Lang equip themselves with the powers they had when they adopted superhero identities, transforming themselves into Elastic Lad and Insect Queen as they take on the group of villains outside the fortress. Luthor has Lana kill him so that Brainiac would no longer have any control of him, but the Legion of Supervillains quickly destroy Lana afterward. Jimmy comes to avenge her death, but Brainiac resumes control of Luthor's body long enough to kill Jimmy and to launch a missile that rips a gaping hole into the fortress. With the fortress breached, Kryptonite Man enters, seeking to kill Superman, but Krypto attacks and risks his life to kill the radiating villain.

Superman carries Lois Lane and the trophy with him when he sees the Legion of Supervillains inside his fortress, gloating about the deaths of Lana and Jimmy. This makes Superman angry enough to attack them with his heat vision, causing them to retreat and return back to the future. Outside the fortress, Superman sees that Brainiac's head is losing control of Luthor's body as it succumbs to rigor mortis and detaches himself from it, vainly trying to crawl its way toward Superman before it goes completely dead.

It is at this point that Superman begins to consider that somebody must be behind all the villains turning against him, and so calls out Mxyzptlk's name. He appears unto Superman, revealing that he has grown tired of becoming a mere nuisance and is now deciding to become fully evil. Mxyzptlk also starts to change from his harmless impish self to a hideous dark creature intent on overpowering Superman enough to kill him. Superman then looks at the trophy, realizing that its Superman figure is holding a Phantom Zone projector, and so goes to get the Phantom Zone projector to use it on Mxyzptlk. As he activates it, Mxyzptlk speaks his name backwards in order to return to his home dimension, but finds himself being pulled into two different dimensions and screams as he is being ripped apart.

Realizing that he has just broken his own moral code to not kill, Superman goes into the Gold Kryptonite chamber to strip himself of all his powers as Lois Lane sadly watches on. With the force field Mxyzptlk kept active now powered down, the heroes outside the barrier enter the fortress to find dead bodies of all of Superman's friends except for Lois, Perry White, and his wife, still being alive. They see that Superman has departed from the chamber through a secret passageway and is now wandering outside in subzero temperatures where supposedly he would die.

It is at this point where the story closes, with Lois Lane Elliot telling the reporter that any possible rumors of Superman still being alive after that are not likely to be true. As the Daily Planet reporter departs, Jordan Elliot brings their son Jonathan into the living room, where he plays with a piece of coal that he turns into a diamond. He and Lois both decide to relax with a pizza and a bottle of wine, and as Jordan turns to close the door in the last panel, he slips the reader a wink.
