"DARK PHOENIX / LITTLE BOY, LOST! "
(APARECIDA ORIGINALMENTE EN X-MEN #135 JULIO/1980)
(Jhon Byrne / Terry Austin)

Continued from last issue...

Having escape from the Hellfire Club, Jean Grey finally gives into the dark side of her soul awakened by Mastermind, becoming the Dark Phoenix and destroying the X-Men's escape craft over Central Park. Miraculously, the X-Men survive the explosion and with quick thinking manage to make it safely to ground with only minor injuries. Their attempts to talk Jean out of attacking them fails and she easily trounces the team with her cosmic level abilities.

While not far away at the Hellfire Club, the authorities are investigating what patrons there believe was an attack by the X-Men. After seeing his colleague Henry Leland wheeled into an ambulance, Sebastian Shaw confronts US Sentator Robert Kelly, a guest at the party that nught. He recommends to Kelly using his government connections to restart the Sentinel program so that they can hunt down dangerous mutants as part of his secret scheme to vilify and destroy the X-Men. Before the two men can discuss things further, Shaw is shocked to see a giant Phoenix effect fill the sky. Shaw is not the only one, as Dark Phoenix uses her powers to fly away from Earth her abilities are picked up by Mr. Fantastic's scientific equipment, Spider-Man's spider-sense, Dr. Strange's mystical senses, and the Silver Surfer's cosmic senses. As Jean departs, an Avengers Quinjet lands in Central Park containing the Beast who has come to the aid of his former comrades in the X-Men. He finds them beaten but alive and agrees to fly them back to the X-Mansion in Salem Center. While in New Mexico, Professor X has a video call with Moira MacTaggert on Muir Island where they both compare notes and realize that their greatest fear, that Jean has lost control of her new powers, has finally become a nightmarish reality.

While in space, Dark Phoenix loops around the sun and uses it's gravity to sling shot her out to a warp gate not far outside of Earth's solar system. This sends her to the D'Bari system, which is part of the Shi'ar empire. She then feasts on the solar system's star, causing it to go nova and obliterate all the living creautres on the planet D'Bari. This is witnessed by a Shi'ar flagship that goes in to investigate. While on the Shi'ar throneworld, Empress Lilandra is awoken to the news of the destruction and witnesses the destruction of the flagship at Phoenix's hands. Lilandra grimly considers that they must deal with this threat no matter the cost.

On Earth, the X-Men have returned to their headquarters and wonder what they will do next. Scott, who still has his telepathic rapport with Jean witnesses the entire genocide through his minds eye and warns his fellow X-Men that Jean is returning to Earth, and she's hungry.

Continued from last issue...

Cyclops has nearly been killed in psychic combat with Mastermind inside Jean's telepathic report she shared with Cyclops. As the Hellfire Club gloats over this victory, Jean looks on in worry. Before the Hellfire Club can do anything else, Wolverine bursts through the door tossing off guards as he goes. Sebastian Shaw orders Jean to attack Wolverine, which she does, however while the others are focusing on that she uses her telekinetic powers to unlock the ruby quartz helmet on Cyclops's head. Scott knocks out Donald Pierce before using his optic blast to free his fellow X-Men and blast Henry Leland.

Jean stops her fight and tells Wolverine to go join the others, Logan goes after Leland to get revenge for his earlier defeat. Cyclops defeats Shaw by blasting out the ground out from under him, and Donald Pierce manages to escape when Colossus foolishly tries to stop him in his human form. Witnessing the battle, Mastermind decides to use his illusionary powers to hide out and see what happens. As Wolverine dives down to the lower level of the Hellfire Club to attack his foe, Leland makes the stupid mistake of using his mass increasing powers on Wolverine causing him to land heavily on Leland with his claws out. As Sebastian Shaw tries to flee through the club, he is attacked by Nightcrawler and Storm.

The disturbance at the Hellfire Club does not go unnoticed, as the authorities are called in an alert also goes in at nearby Avengers Mansion where the Beast is on monitor duty. Reading about how his former friends in the X-Men involved in the commotion, he erases record of the emergency call and goes to help his old comrades.

Back at the club, Colossus catches up to Donald Pierce and gets in an arm wrestle with him. Colossus's strength proves better and he breaks Pierce's mechanical arm, however Pierce shocks Colossus in the face with his severed appendage and flees the scene. While else where in the club, Nightcrawler and Storm try their best to defeat Sebastian Shaw in battle, however he escapes as well. Meeting up with Pierce in one of the clubs many secret tunnels, he tells his comrade that he will make the X-Men pay for this. Upstairs Cyclops tries to calm the party goers, however Mastermind uses his powers to make them think that he is attacking them. Just then, the power cables that Wolverine slashed earlier in the night connect with the rising rainwater causing the power to go out in the club. Cyclops runs into Wolverine in the dark and tells him to gather the other X-Men while he goes looking for Jean.

Jean meanwhile, giving into the darkness in her soul tracks down Mastermind and pins him to the wall. She finds on him a device created by the White Queen that allowed him to beam his illusions directly into her mind. She is darkly amused, but destroys the device and then gives Mastermind what he wanted: control of cosmic power. Opening up his mind to the vastness of the universe Jean causes Mastermind to enter a catatonic state and leaves him. She runs into Scott and although she feels strange she accompanies him and the other X-Men as they flee to their ship parked in Central Park. Watching them go from the window, Shaw vows to ruin the X-Men's public image and turn them into public enemy number one.

The X-Men load up into their plane and take off just as the authorities begin to arrive. Jean, finally unable to contain herself, gives in to her darkside. Changing her costume into a crimson version of her Phoenix outfit, and announces that she is no longer the woman they knew, but power incarnate. Suddenly, the X-Men's ship explodes.

The Amazing Spider-Man #203 "Bewitched, Bothered and Be-Dazzled!"

https://mega.co.nz/#!6osHlIYa!vzlHigf8HTB9vRH7Ye2wLwCJWFayck0LMl2FS64ZE8I

" DESCONCERTADO, DESBORDADO Y DESLUMBRADO! "

Swinging through the city, Spider-Man spots the Dazzler being chased by a strange orb of light. Thinking it's his old foe Will O' The Wisp again, he goes to the mutants rescue. Dazzler, not sure who to trust, attacks Spider-Man after he pulls her to safety and makes her escape from the scene. Unable to find Dazzler, Spider-Man decides to return home for the night.

There he is visited by both Harry Osborn and Flash Thompson, and completely forgot that they were going to see Star Trek: The Motion Picture for opening night. While Peter and his friends are watching the movie, not far away, Dazzler is once more pursued by the orb of light. It manages to catch her and utilizes her light powers in order to restore it to it's original form: That of Spider-Man's one-time foe the Lightmaster, who has spent all this time trapped in the light dimension and is using the Dazzler's mutant powers as a means to return to Earth. Dazzler tries to fight back, and the two end up smashing into the theater where Peter and his friends are watching the movie.

Peter manages to slip away and change into Spider-Man and tries to save Dazzler from Lightmaster but is easily defeated by his foe. Lightmaster then captures Dazzler and takes her back to his lab at Empire State University. Spider-Man recovers and deduces where Lightmaster would go and confronts him there. There he arrives too late to stop Lightmaster from using his equipment on the light generating mutant. When some of the machines explode in the battle, Spider-Man tries to save Dazzler, to find that her body has been possessed by Lightmaster.

With her mutant powers enhanced by Lightmaster's abilities, the possessed disco singer proves to be too powerful for Spider-Man to handle. Tagging her with a spider-tracer he makes his escape, changing back to Peter Parker to evade his enemy. Resting up, Peter then goes to the Daily Globe to drop off his pictures, then visits with Aunt May before looking for the Dazzler once more in the evening. He manages to find her and she is briefly back in control of herself until Lightmaster exerts his will on her once more.

This time Spider-Man has had time to deduce a way to stop Lightmaster, knocking Dazzler out he takes her back to Lightmaster's lab where he hooks her up to the same machine that Lightmaster used on her the previous night and reverses the process, sending Lightmaster back into the light dimension and freeing Dazzler from his control.

" DIOS AMPARE A LA CHIQUILLA + PAPEL O NO PAPEL "

(APARECIDO ORIGINALMENTE EN THE X-MEN #129 ENE/1980)

The X-Men leave Muir Island in Scotland, but Banshee decides to stay with Moira. Havok and Polaris still think they don't belong with the X-Men, and also stay behind with Madrox. During the flight, Jean has visions about her past with Jason Wyngard again, and it is even more real than last time. When they finally get to the Mansion X, sensors warn that there's a person inside, but when they enter, it's Professor X, back from the Shiar Empire. After some days of rest, Jean still thinks she can't control the Phoenix Force and is afraid. Professor X is having problems training the X-Men, treating them like children as he used to do with his first students. Cyclops tries to argue that they are all grown men now, specially Wolverine and Storm, but Xavier doesn't want to listen. Suddenly, cerebro alarm goes out and there is two new mutants detected, one in New York, to which Xavier sends Jean, Cyclops and Nightcrawler, and another in Chicago, where Xavier goes with Storm, Colossus and Wolverine. Xavier says he will use the trip to know his new students better.

Meanwhile, in the Hellfire Club in Chicago, Wyngarde is watching everything happening in X-Mansion, with Sebastian Shaw, Harry Leland, Donald Pierce and Emma Frost, all members of the Inner Circle.

In Chicago, a young girl named Katherine Pryde is arriving home after school, and Emma Frost is at her place talking with her parents about a school in Massachusetts. Kitty says she's having headaches again and goes to her room. Surprisingly, she appears back in the living room after a huge headache. Soon after Emma leaves, the X-Men arrive with Professor X and invite Kitty to join his school. They went to an ice cream place and Kitty soon becomes friends with Ororo and likes Peter very much. Suddenly, the window crashes and three armored guys enter and attack the X-Men. During the battle, Wolverine realizes that the enemies know them and are prepared for their powers, and changes targets with Storm. That works and they win the battle, but during the fight Kitty passes through the walls and discovers she has some kind of power. Then Emma Frost uses her mental powers to knock out the three X-Men and captures them. At the end Kitty Pride follows the group using her power to enter the hovercraft.

Note: This is the first appearance of the popular X-men Kitty Pryde, Carmen pryde, Terri Pryde, Donald Pierce, Harry Leland, and Emma Frost (who was a villain during her first appearances). And one of the greatest X-men-villains, Sebastian Shaw.

This leads to Betty kissing Peter, telling him that she wants to leave Ned for good because she is still in love with Parker.

Later, changing into Spider-Man, Peter web-slings across the city and happens upon the mummy attacking the Daily Bugle building and going after J. Jonah Jameson. Spidey tries to stop the foe and finds him super strong. In the scuffle over Jameson, the bandages on the attackers body unravel revealing it's true identity: The Man-Wolf. " ¡EN BUSCA DE MAN-WOLF! "

Continued from last issue... The Man-Wolf has been sent to capture J. Jonah Jameson, and Spider-Man was unable to stop him. Recovering from a blow, Spidey goes after the Man-Wolf. While over in Westchester, the mystery villain trying to kill both Spider-Man and Jameson turns out to be Spencer Smythe. Smythe has been dying due to his exposure over the years to the various radioactive isotopes used to build the various Spider-Slayer robots that he built for Jameson. Blaming Jameson for his terminal health condition, he has orchestrated this whole event as a means to get revenge against Jameson, and to succeed at what he always failed to do: destroy Spider-Man.

Back in the city, Spider-Man causes the Man-Wolf and Jameson to crash into a car show, where Spider-Man tries to take the Man-Wolf down and Jameson attempts to talk sense into his transformed son. During the fight, Jameson picks up a pistol that was pulled out of the hands of a security guard at the auto show. He is grabbed once more by the Man-Wolf who tries to flee and Spider-Man and the Man-Wolf end up fighting in the streets.

Meanwhile, at the offices of the Daily Globe, a rival New York newspaper, it's owner K.J. Clayton demands that the editor Barney Buskin try to find a way to hire Peter Parker on as one of their photographers. While back on the streets, Jameson decides contemplates shooting his son, but can't bring himself to it when the Man-Wolf approaches and recaptures him. Taking Jonah to the Brooklyn Bridge, where -- upon Smythe's commands -- the Man-Wolf intends to throw Jameson into the water below.

Spider-Man arrives on the bridge just as Jameson manages to being getting through to John's subconscious mind. As Spider-Man fights the Man-Wolf, the creature reverts back to John Jameson. Furious over another failure, Smyth activates his ace in the hole: A bomb implanted inside John Jameson, that will kill his pawn. This causes John to recoil in pain and fall of the bridge. Spider-Man goes after him and manages to grab John and save him from the deadly fall. However, John figures that there is nothing to do to save himself, and tells Spider-Man to tell his father that he loves him before letting go. Spider-Man watches in horror as John plunges to the water below, but disappears in a flash before he impacts with the water.

When Spider-Man tries to explain what happened to John to his father, J. Jonah Jameson refuses to believe it, figuring that Spider-Man let his son die as some vendetta against the publisher, and demands that the "murderer" leave him alone.
